Why me

I remember those days

Those days that they would say to me

“Honey get up now, you’re going to be late for school.”

They would already be in the kitchen

He would be sipping a cup of coffee

She would be preparing breakfast

Sometimes I greet and smile

But mostly I just sit and eat

Eyes on the phone, checking on my social media

Big smile...because I got 20 likes

She would ask “Did you already finish your breakfast?”

Bag is packed with my lunchbox ready

I say my goodbyes the fastest way that I can

Running towards the door not looking back

I sat in the classroom like the rest of them

Listening and taking notes

Phone laid silent in the right side of my desk

The door opened and the person talked to the instructor

They both looked at me

Mind blank, I sense something was wrong

She called my name

I walked towards them

.....

Now I am alone

Please don’t remind me

How I wish that I was ready

Knowing they’ll never come back

Everyday I ask “why me?”

I miss them so much
