Why mom?

Dear mom,

I know you love me and you care about me, yet you didn't pay attention to what's happened right under your nose. Mom, I know you invited him over for all pure and personal reasons. There was no way you'd know what he'd do to me while you were sleeping. But, mom, how could you believe him when he said he was just watching me sleep? How could you believe the lies he made over the truths I said? Mom, I know it's not your fault, you didnt intend for me to be abused that night, while I was sleeping dreaming of childish things, in my pink princess themed room. Mom, you didn't intend for me to become a woman so soon, but it happened. Over night I went from an innocent child to a woman who had been abused. Mom, I know you love me and your goal is to protect me, but where were you when I needed you the most?

Love, your grown daughter
