Why Poetry??

I write poetry because it's a time when I get to be me I write poetry because it help me expresses my feelings I write poetry so that it comes from the heart I write poetry for you to connect to my thoughts I write poetry for a sense of my own identity I write poetry to feel free I write poetry to talk about poverty I write poetry to tell the story of what's going on around me I write poetry to share with the world I write poetry to share with these little boys and girls I write poetry to get my feelings out I write poetry to be honest with myself I write poetry to do something as the time goes by I write poetry to keep important memories I write poetry because I believe in myself I write poetry because I believe we are one as a people
