Why is poetry so useful to me?
Does it free my body, or unshackle my mind?
Or keep me from being lost in time?
Why is poetry so useful to me?

Once upon a time, not long ago
I found this form in which words go
Its name is poetry, its form never lies
It often stops problems that arise

Why is poetry so useful to me?
Let me make it as clear as can be
It opens my eyes to how others feel
And also can help one's heart heal

Poetry is power
And this power is free
Available to both you and me
