Why Poetry

Poetry is expression

An open door to my emotions

My escape from reality

And at the same time connection to it

It is a way to move away from common mentality

To show my individuality

I got into poetry

Because I liked the rhyme scheme

And the freedom it gave me

To not care about the critics

Or the harsh insults that make people sick

It gave me an opportunity

To talk about things hard to express with words

Create understanding for better unity

Poetry has a smooth flow

And many different styles

That allows us to show

What’s on our mind

And sometimes even ignore time

To get lost in our own world

Not knowing what we will find

And the shout of unspoken word

The different styles

So may that they should be put in a file

I write poetry because it is relaxing

And there are no worries about taxing

And poetry can even be found

In the words that we sing

So why write poetry?

Because it makes you feel free

And allows you to be whatever you want to be
