Why pretend?

Act as though you weren’t a copy of the typical teenage male

Act as though you would’ve gone to hell

AND back for me, but in all HONESTY

You were just a fake

Instead of sleeping in my sorrows

And hoping for a text from tomorrow

To cure this ever-thinking brain

I’m going to bend my legs

Get on my knees

And get to praying

Praying for a new race of men that don’t fall into your copied mold

That aren’t afraid to speak their emotions once others’ are told

That aren’t frightened by a girl on fire

Nor a women who’s heart is tired

Tired from the pain of other men like you

Maybe man was to generous but oh you made me a fool

A fool that fell hard enough to cry her eyes out for days

But one that has a new gaze at the sun’s rays

Because I will always look to the hills from which cometh my help

My help comes the lord, who is also my shepherd

And as a member of his flock it’s my duty

To be nothing less but loyal to his will

And since his will is what I am called according to

I know that this is for my good
