Why Should We Be?

While we still do have

Gently rising Hills

Mountains high that show

Bright blue and light mauve

Capped by winter’s snow-

The goodness that fills

Us with hope aglow,

Why, then should we be

Dismayed and aghast

Letting the moots thoughts

Creep in that can be

But a pain to hearts?

Let us leave the past.

Be blithe like a bee.

While we have riches-

Mind, wealth and virtues

That is meant for all

Whether the patches

Be black, white, or shall

Be brown, tawny hues,

For red flows in all,

Why, why should, there be

Abhorrence, revenge,

Discrimination,

That make human be

The incarnation

Of devil’s bondage?

Why, why should we be?
