Why is the Sky Blue?

They say the sky is blue

but it's red.

Red to mourn every life

that is taken too soon.

They say the sky is blue

but it's yellow.

Yellow to encourage the upturned faces

of those hoping for more.

They say the sky is blue

but it's green.

Green to nourish the families

as they grow together.

They say the sky is blue

but it's black.

Black to comfort our insecurities

when we need to cry alone.

They say the sky is blue

and they’re right.

Because they don’t want to see

what I see.
