Why Stars Fall

Maybe your love was real?

My heart can’t decide.

My mind tells me you were a dream that came alive.

I wished upon a shooting star for an angel with your eyes,

They hypnotized my mind and lit up like stars in the night sky.

Once upon a time I dreamt for our souls to collide.

Your love struck me like comets crashing in my mind.

Your voice was like the sun,

It kept my love in orbit with the vibrations that it sung.

Meteor showers flooded the tear ducts in my eyes,

as the lies you told unraveled time after time.

I fantasized forever with you always by my side.

I hum our last goodbye...

“I Love You” appears like blurry plants in the distant sky.

How can lovers turn to strangers over night?

My heart is hurting from the absence of your sight.

My head is stuck in limbo as I drift back to a conscious mind.

My muscles ache from falling to Earth like how asteroids do some nights.

I fell in love with no parachute to ease the flight.

The match you lit caused my body to ignite.

I became a white ball of light,

A shooting ray of sunshine,

A bright streak of hope falling in the dark sky.

A final thought crossed my mind,

A little girl would look up and see me before bedtime-

(Pause.)

Loving him was out of this world.

You don’t understand, a love like his is rare.

I wasn’t going to wake up from my soundless sleep.

Don’t you see; I couldn’t live in a loveless reality.

So, I let his love consume me.

I let it suck me into his black hole of nothing,

because I needed to be his everything.

(continue.)

I became a white ball of light,

A shooting ray of sunshine,

A bright streak of hope falling in the dark sky.

A final thought crossed my mind,

A little girl would look up and see me before bedtime.

She’d wish upon me for an angel with eyes like you and her dreams would come true.
