Why We Run
There was a bang, there was smoke, there was a bang
There were screams, there was blood, there were screams
There was death, there was heartache, there was death
There was anger, there was fear, there was anger
I watched, I wasn’t there, I watched
I cried, I stared, I cried
I was in shock, I didn’t understand, I was in shock
I wanted to look away, I didn’t, I wanted to look away
They searched, they grew weary, they searched
They hunted, we grew uneasy, they hunted
They made progress, they asked our help, they made progress
They got him, they pursued, they got him
Now we run and run and run
Not out of fear, not out of cowardice
We are not running from our problems
We are not running from danger
Every time we run, every time I run
It is to prepare to chase down the threat
To overcome and emerge stronger than ever
