Will

Will. It bends It creaks It pleads not to break. You work You struggle You move. Will. Can’t see it Can’t touch it Can’t smell it. You breath You laugh You shiver. Will. Break a nail Break a bone Break a sweat. You do You pray You watch. Will. Us We Me. You think You hope and You Will Be Everything.

This poem is about a boy I met in Guatemala, Byron, who is pictured above. He lives in a house with seven other children and has been to school once in his life. This poem is the summation of all my hopes for Byron and people everywhere to be more than the circumstances that they are born into.
