Will it ever end?

Rivers running down my cheeks
Five-pointed star slammed onto my flesh
Welts rising towards the sky
Rivers streaming down my cheeks

Words slicing through
“Loved you will never be”
Hearing “you’re good enough” is not for me
Words slicing through bone

Flesh slammed on flesh
Beloved wooden spoon
Adored belt, a mighty fist
Flesh slammed down upon flesh

Rivers flooding down my cheeks
Rivers of heartache
Of revultion, of self-loathing
Rivers flooding my cheeks

Sticks and stones will break my bones
But words will sow destruction
Words will render me worthless
Words will slice me apart

Will the pain ever seize?
Will my flesh stop glowing red with welts?
Will the words stop crashing down?
Will the memories stop burning in my mind?
