Will You Be My Valentine?
Dear Vanessa (aka Vaness),
I hope you're doing well
And that this letter will tell
What I couldn't through text
Because I've been perplexed
My father recently fell ill
He's at the hospital still
But I didn't visit him till day five
I lacked the will to see him half alive
But later, I went in his room and was struck with horror
I saw a man full of gloom hooked on machines in disorder
He was laid in bed ungroomed not resembling his former
His eyes, you can assume, screamed this is torture!
I tried not to weep, but the situation was too deep
For me to keep my feelings asleep
As I looked in his lifeless eyes they started to creep
It was evident by the tears that began to seep
But Vaness, I must confess
That even through this mess
Life 101 is still in session
Because my father is teaching me a lesson
About expression
And on how life is a blessin'
As my father was laying in bed
Life fading away, death waiting ahead
I could read his message through his eyes
Where the windows to the soul lies
He said, "Life is too short so make the best of it
Often we try to sort life out that we miss the point of it
And we seldom get the chance
To advance and make a stance
On our true feelings towards others
Expecting them to know our true colors"
I'll take my father's message to heart
As my life seems to be falling apart
I won't take life for granted
So I'll be real candid
You are my reason for writing this letter
Because every time I think of you I feel better
So I'm taking this chance now
To reveal how I feel the best way I know how
A love letter allows me to pour my soul out
To reveal what I'm truely all about
Without interruptions unlike text or phone calls
You have time to pass judgement as time stalls
I wish to be your Valentine this year
A sincere, clear statement I hope you'll revere
For you to be mine and for I to be yours
Truely Yours,
-Albe Sol
