The Willing Tree

There I sat beneath a willow tree And there the tree sat above me This tree is so willing and free Oh! What a Willing Tree Then, the wind blows like the echo of a howling wolf As it whips the vines back and forth The wind sounds as if it is over the gulf Like the sound of a child’s scream after birth Then all is calm! Or so thought But unknown, the hidden secrets of this tree All the hidden secrets withheld from me That once in the vines, a poor boy’s body hung His spirit, lives on in that Willing Tree Causing the vines of this tree to take prey Around that day, that suicidal day That poor boy, the tree took his life away The wind blows, the vines creep down, wrapping around my neck I am struggling and thrashing, then there is nothing, not a sound Now, there sits next to the poor boy sits I, the girl who sat under this tree Oh that Willing Tree. No! The Killing Tree

This poem is about a boy who commits suicide and then his spirit causes the tree to kill this young girl who decides one day to sit under this tree.
