Wilson's Best Friend

Most would want a friend, a companion, family,

But what of those who crave solitude?

Perhaps the island's location

Was intentional. Or not.

Many objects are utterly useless on this sea-wary fortress.

Here we have no electricity

For video games, nor

Shelter to keep our favorite books dry.

This is a place with no running water for

Brushing teeth or bathing or using the toilet. Rather,

One must survive.

Escape, if you can.

Robinson Crusoe needed none of these things.

And only one item would aid Wilson and Tom Hanks:

Duct tape.

Yes, duct tape, the mightiest of survival necessities and most versatile

Of adventure supplies.

Are you cold?

Duct tape clothes.

Are you wet?

Duct tape house.

Are you tired?

Duct tape bed.

By the binding power of these rolls of glue

And plastic,

Survive. Escape. Live on.
