Wilted Rose
I cry one tear for Stockholm,
Where life was cringey
Like sweethearts dancing.
Too sweet to eat
Like our mac and cheese.
Full of training wheels
And rose-tinted shades.
Full of cliffs
and perfect landings.
Was it love?
For when I fell,
I crashed.
Cut deeper than Hell.
The bliss we allowed.
Too young to see how
Our walks could never last.
How the sidewalk always ends.
My girl,
The roses have long been wilted.
Rotten from the overdose.
Once the eye, now you slip on ice.
Blinded by your tears and all the lies.
Your reason to live
Is the reason to die.
Broken promises.
Broken heart.
How naive I was
To trust my first love
when a first love
Is only the start.
One tear for now,
As you’re nowhere to be found.
As you return with a decade on your skin,
Expecting my heart to be bound.
But how?
When you, yourself run
u n w o u n d.
Love and hate escape my speech.
Mourning only for what
can never be born.
You lost me.
I lost a part of me.
Resentment burned a hole
like your cigarette.
Now someone’s filled your space
Giving the love I’d never get.
For what we had was never love.
An empty silhouette.
