Wind

The night the wind visited us, it brought our house to its knees
Collapsed upon itself.
Aunt and I shivered in the cold outside as we watched
Our home fall, helpless.
Aunty said the wind howled like her late husband did in his fits of rage,
Destroying everything and everyone in his path till he destroyed himself,
She looked into my eyes and said: "boys are winds, girls are houses"
Then let go of my hand quickly.
