The Window

As I sit in front of a window,

I see all kinds of kids running, playing, laughing;

They don't judge

They only care about the fun and enjoyment;

Oh, the golden joy of childhood...

And I start to wonder why the world can't always work like that.

When do we lose that innocence and bliss?

As we grow, we start to differentiate and gaze around

Like hungry predators looking for a kill

Tall, short, skinny, fat, white, black, brown, yellow?

We learn those adjectives when we're toddlers.

Why do they have to become offensive?

What would te world be like if we left that discrimination behind?

Let's be thoughtful and affable,

Let's imagine a better world where we work together;

Don't mind the physical aspect,

Listen to the hearts and souls of people around the world

Dreamers, workers, friends...

And just like children use blocks to build grandiose structures,

Let's use equality to build a better future

It doesn't have to be just a hope,

It can be a reality if we all hold hands without noticing the differences among us.

And as I sit in front of a window,

I see a different tomorrow
