Window of Different Kind

She walked into that brand-new school,

She, unknown to the world,

Desiring in earnest those pools

Of memory—young fool,

At a window her mind unfurled.

Imagination took rein,

The leaves of branches blithely curled,

The wind the waters hurled.

Interest in work she did feign—

The window crossed her mind;

Reality began to wane,

Passing to a place without pain.

That large window for which she pined

To her, it always stood

A window of different kind:

Her true self she would find.
