The Window Into Myself
The small, yet beautiful yard bordered by plants, a space meant for entertaining friends and family. A sun that one could bathe in for an eternity.
The playful sounds of wrestling dogs and the squeals of a toddler chasing after them. The chatter of a different language, familiar sounds, but unknown meaning behind them.
The aroma of food cooking in the background, a mixture of asian seasonings and American foods and the faint scent of perfume lingering.
The love of family reuniting for the first time in years, the excitement of catching up. A comfort of being away from home, away from reality, free of worry.
Indulging in the multicultural arrangement of treats, the result of being spoiled by relatives. The taste of who I am as a person.
Without this opportunity there would be no hope of an easier more relaxed life without focus on myself. There would be no connection with that part of my family and there definitely would be no real connection with that part of my heritage. The pride for who I am would not be as important to me. This window helps define me.
