the window visitor
you knocked again on my window last night
reappearing after so many days and nights
first, just a silhouette, marked by the moon's glow
tapping so light on the glass, that it was almost ignored
all around me, inside of me, covering me,
your fingerprints had barely begun to fade
changing colors like emotional bruises,
until the faint scars of the lost could be felt
before any words were formed,
reactions engaged
i watched the signature of your shadow play on my curtains
the cloak of darkness billowing around you
your form faintly illuminated by a lonely street light
i watched
and your shadow watched me
the silence stretched out and broke finally
as the window creaked open and you came back to me
regret and impressions exchanged
agreement and entanglements rearranged
from the window you returned
speaking of lessons to be learned
the past dislodged in our first embrace
the contours of our bodies retraced
i welcomed you home
remade the bed
and welcomed my feelings
back from the dead
