The Winds of Change

The winds of change! It blows my hair, It picks up my skirt, It floats me on a beautiful dream! They say we must be patient, That it may take some time. I cannot wait, For I am ready now! Too long I have been stared at, Snubbed and cast aside. Relegated to the back of the bus, Forced to use “black facilities”. There was no hope. But now in the darkest time, There is an end in sight, Though we cannot give up the fight. I am unafraid. I am unafraid. I am unafraid. I look to the flag and it gives me strength, Its stars and stripes wave in the winds of change!
