The Winds of Change Have Come

Dear Ashley,

The winds of change have come,

And despite my efforts to ignore them,

They blow fiercely from the direction I travel.

Time continues as steadily as ever,

pulling us closer to that inevitable split

where we will no longer spend our days together

The winds of change have come.

The winds of change have come,

Beckoning us towards our desired futures

That are strangely not interwoven for many years to come

As we might have hoped for a long time.

Time ticks away, warning us of how long we have left together,

Whispering to savor every moment

The winds of change have come.

The winds of change have come

We both know that we can ignore the winds of change

But in doing so we will be left empty

Hollow from the years of avoiding what was to be.

So we must learn to appreciate and love while we can

And breathe deeply while facing towards the source

For the winds of change have come.

Forever yours, Emma
