Wine

You left a wine stain on the carpet of my heart, And I've drowned it with the Clorox of another's company. I've called my carpet cleaners of friends, but yet the stain stays. It refuses to come from the carpet fibers that are my veins. So I've put a couch over that spot Just so my company and I don't have to see it. Wondering why nothing will remove it. But every now and then, When I have to move the couch to vacuum, I see the stain. And I miss the glass it was once in.

I love the metaphor you chose to represent heartbreak--very unique too. It's so true, great poem!
