The Winged Figure in My Dreams
Only in my dreams, am I like the winged seraphs
Yet only a crossbreed, who rules another power
There is no succession to any throne for myself
Rather I be a guardian, by it; my loyalty’s wealth
I was not born in heaven, and I did not, from it fall
Born as a gentle creature when the wings were visibly small
I was the otherworldly spirit, with a separate task
To defend and fight alongside as the neutral party’s mask
And such this power that is mine and mine alone
It is strange and homeward bounding, twisted in color sewn
It’s a power so ancient that humans lost it in their grasp
And only I could hold it, when it burned where passions clashed
These wings of mine are strong and this power it’s deceiving
Reaching highs and other things, to results most intriguing
In wars that none could win, and I flew up high and in fire’s singe
My power built itself to weapons and coursing blasts through the skies that rung
But I was meant to be the neutral, but my heart invoked another say
My loyalty to friends I met, were stronger then the Gods intent
And in battles scorching, I fought along, the ending of the monster’s song
And scars I carry, I carry them bold, defense for my friends in times of old
But age did not treat them kindly, and as the years grew thinner
Did my friends bid me goodbye and with Death went to walk the night
It’s a strange feeling to lose something but know it’s truly never lost
As it is to have a power that both Gods and demons will not cross
These wings they have lifted me high, close to the heavens and the Earth’s undersides
But even all wounds from past death-ridden battles, cannot heal at the age grows old
And Time becomes cruel even though before she was kind
And thoughts become murmurs as the will loses the mind
These bloodstained scars, on my frame and wings, lay me to sleep is places green
Still though my wings hold me tightly, embracing me as we say goodbye
Because only in my dreams, am I like the winged seraphs
Yes, I am the crossbreed, who ruled the other power, and found true happiness before the final nigh
