Wingless

Whimsically flying in the air, Her tainted wings fluttered right past me As I tried to catch up. As soon as I got closer She got even further away. I know she doesn’t want to see my face Because of how hideous she said it was, But she knows it’s truly her heart that she considers The most horrendous. How black and mortifying it is. Slowly killing her after Each breath she takes in And each word she says. I couldn’t rid this monster from me Even if I tried for her. Nothing was working. She wouldn’t look my way, And it pained me to see she still smiled With her wings stained black From the hollow piths of her heart. Those moments when I thought we were going To last for a very long time. A time I couldn't imagine, couldn't predict the slightest bit. Her fragile wings caressing me for one last moment, Disappeared from my sight. Colors of blue, purple, and silver bat away from me, and I reach out to catch this kaleidoscope dream Before it ends too quickly, But I couldn’t reach her in time. She left with knowing how painful it was for me, Those words that pierced through me like daggers, Ached and throbbed as my chest pounded to be with you. She knew too much, and yet, so little, But still, those beautiful wings That captivated me the most, Flew away With her.
