Wings
Bubbly and happy I race for the sky,
Light and free I act as we soar,
But once you leave and I'm back on the ground,
I can't seem to find my wings anymore.
Stuck in the dirt that clings to my feet,
I watch as you leave me in this place where I can't sleep.
As you leave the dark closes in,
And all I can wish is that you'll soon come again.
Because I can fake being a bird with wings,
Soaring and care free when you're with me,
But once the darkness settles in,
And I'm alone, in this place I hate to be,
I know I have no wings,
have no light and I am not free.
I reflect yours when you are here,
I mimic your wings so I can stay near.
I fear the dark, when I am alone,
But it's the only place I can call home.
