Wings

Wings, born with them

but always kept pinned.

Never able to truly live.

Always told you will fly,

but always shot down when you try.

Never seen as an equal.

Always testing them day by day

in the hopes that you could fly away.

Wings so strong and fierce,

but kept quiet by a clenching fear.

Never able to truly take flight

always being shot down in another fight.

Always trying to break free but never able to succeed.

Always dreaming of the day when you can see the light

and fly away.
