Wings of Daffodils

I believe that daffodils would fly away

If only the sun would fly with them

But then, would it be a tale like that of Icarus,

Soaring too high towards his freedom

Could they fly too close,

Their best friend turning to an enemy?

Is that why the sun is quiet, ignoring their calls?

Does she know of what loving her could do?

So instead she sits so far,

destined to be lonely

My heart longs for her happiness,

yet I know her greatest happiness would lead to her greatest despair

She’s living in a lesser hell,

But still enduring the torture that would bring anyone to their knees

She stands tall despite of this

This is why I look to her as the strongest soul of us all
