Winter

The graying leaves fall slowly down

While snowflakes kiss the ground with care

The world is dressed with winter’s gown

A silence fills the haunting air.

From far away there comes the noise

A pine tree falls to end its life

The needles have no grace or poise

Death spreads throughout this tree in strife.

There comes the tracks of tiny paws

With footprints all along the snow

They’re followed by much larger claws

Where one must go the other must know.

With winter’s eerie silent nights

The chill will get you with a bite.
