Winter

Sleigh bells ringing in the distance

Soft, white snow descending from the cloud filled skies

Skates colliding with ice

Snowmen of all shapes and sizes decorating the yards

Full, blown out wars with weapons made of snow

Innocence and purity fill the air

If only for so much as a day

The melodic sound of laughter taking place of silence

Eyes gleaming with overflowing happiness

The coldest of hearts wrapped in warmth

Smiles melting away worries

Drinking hot chocolate by the fireplace

Basking in the warmth

Watching the flames mirror the passion in your eyes

Being content

Watching in wonder

You begin to ask yourself

What if each day was winter?

Sadly, even I know all good things must come to an end

But isn’t that what makes you treasure it even more?

It becomes precious

Then it’s gone

Fleeting

But the emotions felt become everlasting

You are wistful

As you wait for the upcoming year

Waiting for winter and everything that comes with it to return

You watch as the seasons go by

Excited, overjoyed

Those are the perfect words to describe how you feel

When winter returns

Because everyone is entitled at least one cheesy, mushy-filled poem.
