From Winter, to Autumn

Have I ever told you how much I love you? Well, of course I haven't But today I think I will Because I might not get to tomorrow But I will not start this off with 'Roses are red Violets are blue' Because that poem is for the springtime A long way away from now That's, for the saps and sticky sweet romantics Which we are neither Okay, sometimes you are But I will love you just the same Because I know no one loves you as much as they should They tell others that you are 'bad news to get involved in' That you're a failure That you will 'let them down' That you will draw them in with your fiery and intriguing personality But leave them sick and disappointed in the cold When in reality, you're just leading them to me Because for some reason, you always end up on my doorstep Waiting for me to bore you with a cheesy bedtime story And I will welcome you with open arms Even when the others have left I guess they heard I have cold hands? But no matter what, you will always make me feel better with that stupid little saying That your mother taught you "Cold hands, warm heart" But when you are the one who is cold When you are lost and afraid When the wind and change has stripped you if everything you have And you are at your weakest vulnerability I will give you my home My shelter My bed and blankets I will make sure you are warm Though I don't provide much heat I will try Yet when I come back in the morning You are gone Someone much to fast, much too... Fluorescent Is where you were supposed to be I know they will leave me behind I don't know how they got there I guess I forgot in a flurry of icy roads and traffic lights and numbed shot glasses They will replace the scent of sugar and butter That you left on my clothing With strong perfume that makes me sneeze Why others prefer her over you I do not know It may be quite a while before I see you again It may be weeks Months Years Seconds But you are worth the wait Always a little different than you were the year before Your hair is more vibrant now But your eyes are darker You are just as beautiful as before I will leave my door open Even months before you arrive Even when the embers die I will wait for you

Wild Youth

"We are the reckless, we are the wild youth Chasing visions of our futures One day we'll reveal the truth That one will die before he gets there..." ~ Youth, Daughter
