Winter Embers

Once the flames started up they were so hard to put out. When one feels loved for the first time, sometimes the heartbreak is worse than it ever was before. I couldn't have prepared for what my heart was going to be put through. Had I known the flames would consume me I may have run away. To this day the ember burns slow in the back of my mind. December 19th will always be breathtaking as much as it is heartbreaking. January 9th will always remind me the cost of being burned is too high.
