Winter Is Here!

Winter is here,

Snow must fall,

In small crystallized flakes.

Melding together,

As a great big quilt

Covering the land.

Surely the children will play,

In mittens, hats, and coats

Making snowmen tall and small,

And tunnels through drifts and slopes.

Laughter floats upon the breeze,

Snowflakes fill the air.

It makes one want to share,

The happiness they have.

It makes me long

For the call to sound,

The words to hit my ear,

"Joy to those who live in the mountains,

Winter is finally here!"
