Winter Romance

I had built a suit of armor using only broken promises, held together by thin ice. Then, you leaned to my ear, with those gently creased lips, and breathed a warm “Good Morning…” My armor instantly melted away. I was completely vulnerable. There was no choice but to fully submit myself to you. I could feel you smile as our bodies conjoined into familiar shapes, and our hands nestled together like puzzle pieces. —oh, the game we used to play. We wrapped ourselves tightly in your love-stained sheets, and peered out the window. and just as the snow descended, so did our eyes. Soon we were snowmen, piled neatly into bundled heaps of sleep.
