Winter Run

When I ran along the woods near my home,

I felt my breaths heaving,

as they panted in and out of my parted lips.

The vibe and ambience of cold morning was chilled with colors of sunrise sky

The trees having weather bitten,

The bark looked as cold as crocodile’s back.

The footprints of roadkill red deer lay aside,

like a washed-up seal on a beach.

The black cormorant got tangled in fishing line and died.

A green blanket of algal blooms covered the quiet river.

With the approaching Spring,

The bird’s songs blended into a captivating harmony.

The streaks of red blazed sun emerged from the billowing clouds.

My rubber-soled grey running shoe squeaked on the tarmac,

as a tiny stone got into the shoe.

I felt the sweat running down my brow onto my nose,

and dropping to my chin.

Catching my breath, I squeezed  past to the other side

collecting dear memories in that cold winter morning.
