A Winter Solo
There is nothing as calm and nothing as still
As walking through the new-fallen snow.
Sweet and cold and brutal, I will
Brave the cold and resist the chill.
When one is walking through the snow,
He looks up at the dancing sky
And sees the flurries, and he knows
That despite cold weather, he will grow.
The winter freezes bones and hearts
And icicles are daggers in the long, fierce night.
A winter moon shines from a world apart
But casts its glow and seeps into one’s heart.
The time it takes to take its toll,
The cold weather knows not how,
But one who has seen and braved the cold,
Will be strong forever and forever will know.
