Winter Weather

Dear Weather,

How have you been?

You haven’t seemed to change much this winter we’re in.

In fact I’ve stopped noticing

you’re even around;

you haven’t smiled, said hello,

not even frowned.

This painted-on sunshine

feels fake and unstable

and I’d like a bit of snow soon

if you are able.

Why have you not snowed?

Is it your mother?

I thought you were moving out

to live with another.

If something is keeping you

from dumping and icing,

at least a little rain

would be somewhat enticing.

So please, my dear friend,

say something tomorrow

or I’ll still be bogged down

in my unending sorrow.
