The Wisdom of a Father

When a friend was in need of aid

I did no selfish act

My dislike for wrestling seemed to fade

My mind was hijacked

I missed it

The hard work and grit

I wanted to return to the sport

I would hope to have the support

My fear arose

What would other people think of me?

I was stuck in these shadows

I didn't know if I would be able to let it be

My father saw my distress

He came to offer me some advice more or less

You don't owe anything to anyone my son

Just go out there and have fun

He was right

What are they to say?

Hearing this I was ready to go back to the fight

This was my independence day

You helped me overcome my fear

My mind is clear

I am awfully glad

Thanks, dad
