Wishful Dreaming

The water is pouring in.

Bucket after bucket, trying not to let the vessel fill.

I am sure the ship is sinking.

The buckets are small and the water keeps flowing,

Surely I am to drown.

I surrender to the sea, but my love, he won't allow it.

All this time I thought I was alone,

Was it the burning mist or tears that were filling my eyes?

All this time I thought I was wishfully dreaming, but I knew it was true.

I was still afloat.

Still, the boat was capsizing, no doubt about it.

Our hands intertwined, we jumped into the endlessness of the grey and blue.

The infinite bath tried to drag medown,

but we swim.

We swim.

A glimmer of light is seen from the north,

The fog is thick and the deep, deep, depths of the sea seem endless.

It seemed we would never find shore,

but we swim.

We swim.

The light seems to be dimming.

Yet, we swim.
