Wishing

High hopes for tomorrow and today Blow the candles out, but the wish is here to stay Was it all a trick? Is it something that you make? We're livin’ on a prayer ‘cause the promise gonna break All the missed moments Unused opportunity binds us in the flesh Unachieved my community The unity is strong Dull knives still slit We're gettin’ cut down, but these legs don't split Can't beg for us to quit ‘til the head is on a stick Everything picked is a point against the prick Them bloody hands washed can't hide behind the stain Sinking in the clogs that they tellin’ us to drain Plunged into depths It can't even be explained Pushing for parades when you know it's gonna rain It's just another day One shot one kill And then you go home to help work on your will The fortune’s gonna spin until you lose another turn Burned into a pile You can barely keep an earn Ashy fingers welt with the cards they've been dealt Brief touch that you felt pools down to a melt I scream in my head when I give a thumbs up Scenes play in my bed til I see the sun up Full of things that I said to a beat I drum up When dreams turn to dread, then it's time to come up Lungs filled to the brim Agasp from the shock I try to stay awake to keep running out the clock The time moving fast I think my hour’s struck And all I can ask is for health and good luck
