The Witch

In the far corner Across the street House 2146 Stood, red and brown Almost lifeless I’d stroll by it every day And could not help but stare It seemed so empty No one in sight But this Tuesday afternoon A woman crept out of the house Cackling like a witch I froze in fear Unable to move She slinked closer and closer Her feet barely touching ground I wanted to run away But I was anchored Cringing Thinking the worst She was only a few feet away Her appearance hideous Teeth streaked yellow Hair colored purple, standing on end Skin wrinkly, covered with moles I closed my eyes Counted to ten And opened them to see She disappeared Then real terror overtook me
