The Witch's Burning

The fire licks at my clothing. The ends of my black dress singed by the flames. The town's people scream at me as I'm helpless for I'm chained to the stake. The townsfolk scream "witch" at me and put more wood on the fire. I gain my composure, which didn't help my case. I tried not to scream as the flames reached my legs, burning my already hot skin. The flames climbed up my dress to my waist. The flames had already burnt the clothe off my body, leaving me exposed to the flames. I could take it no longer. I screamed a scream of murder. I screamed my lungs out. I thrashed my legs at the flames, which did not help anything. I screamed a blood-curtling scream as the flames ate away more of my clothing, soon setting my long dark hair on fire. I cried and screamed and bled in front of the whole town that once loved me before they saw me disappear from the air. I was being accused of being a witch when I sang a song and was accused of trying to hypnotize a man who I found secretly listening. I was about to die and it was because of the town's people, why not play some tricks? I started to sing the song I was singing when I was accused of hypnosis. "The trees are blowing in the wind. And the world begins to spin. The light was bright but now it's gone. The world is dark once again. The people scream a retched song and the witches sing their songs." The wind started blowing hard. A tree fell and the world seemed to sway. The light of the sun suddenly got bright and harsh and as fast as the harsh light had come, the light was gone, replaced by a darkness like no other. A terrible, heart-wrenching scream erupted from the throats of the town's people. I started to sing louder, enjoying the view. "The fire spread, and reached the dead. The people turned to ash. The people from this world is gone as well as the last." The fire started to crawl towards the people. The people ran and the fire picked up speed. The fire ran towards the graveyard. It caught a few people, burning them quickly. A few more people were soon caught in the flames. Two minutes of screaming and agony had lead to most of the people turning into ashes. I repeated the last line again. "The people from the world is gone as well as the last." On the last word, the fire had finally covered me and done it's job. The mortals were gone and I was left. I closed my eyes and let myself go. "Gone as well as the last." Idea by Kaitlyn H. Poem by Renee R. (nenerounds)
