The Withered Garden
Dear Anxiety,
Deep down inside you live
Planted in me like tree roots
Unwanted like weeds overtaking an innocent garden
You thrive in the darkness of my soul
Like seeds blossoming in the soil
You crave my attention
As a pitiful plant craves water
And as I wilt away
You take the beauty of my petals
When the sun comes out
I see no light
For you’ve taken my energy
I’m a byproduct of your maturation
You began to sprout
And out you came
Like a thorn on a rose
As my tears stream
You have been fed
As I shrivel
You flourish
Deep down inside you live
Planted in me like tree roots
But when all my branches finally break
What will be there to hold you up?
