Withering Away of Love
Love is a magnificent flower
Blooming with joy, nurtured by affection
Adrenaline and cheer increasing its power
Oftentimes the powerful emotion becomes an infection
What happens when the flower withers away?
Do the joy and passion once felt become fiction?
The once loving individuals begin to stray
Purposely torturing one another with their diction
In the peak of its life, the flower was bliss
The words “Because I love you” a symbol of support
But with a single, poisonous kiss,
The words begin to distort
“Because I love you, do what you adore”
I will be the pathway leading to your dreams
I will provide love and support evermore
I promise my love is just as it seems
Benevolent promises become draconian lies
The phrase “Because I love you” begins to cause harm
A person is destroyed as the flower inevitably dies
Her prince sorrowfully begins to lose his charm
Because i love you, do only what i desire
Do not greet, meet, or wave at a single soul
Your freedom is a virtue you can no longer acquire
Captured in a dungeon, without anyone to help console
Because i love you, lower your self esteem
Without me, you will do nothing except fail
Save time and give up on your dreams
Love me despite the storms that may assail
Forgive me, i truly wish to repent
Allow me to be the Romeo to your Juliet
Do not abandon the time we spent
Our love is a wondrous melody playing on a cassette
Healthy relationships make the best of us
Love and support enable humans to thrive
And yet, there are those who choose to be treasonous
The beasts who by stealing love, deprive
Love is an emotion, not an excuse
To torture a once trusting, jovial person
Whose heart you acquired only to misuse
Causing her sorrow and your narcissism to worsen
No matter how much you apologize
The harm can not be reversed
She will no longer believe your lies
Nor the words “Because I love you” that you managed to perverse.
