Within Time: After a Personal Loss

I do not want to talk about it! Please, do not ask me to. I do not need someone to tell me that it is ok because deep inside of me, I do not feel that it is true. Please do not hang on me or try to get me to smile. I will talk about him when I am ready to, Please know it may take me a little while. Your presence is enough, to show me that you care. Please give me time and space to grieve my loss if you truly and deeply care. One day there will come a time when I am able and willing to share.

I wrote this poem after the loss of my father. Everyone wanted to try to be in my face and make me talk about how I was feeling. I just wanted to be left alone to grieve and deal with my thought and feelings. I turned to writing as a way of dealing with the emotional pain.
