Without Them
One thing I can’t live without,
like fish with water
and plants with rain.
Is my mother and father
whom i love so much
they taught me what i know today
they heal broken hearts with a single touch.
I never fear being alone
because they are always with me
when they move on they will stay in my heart and bones
i will still feel my dad’s working hands drying my tears
i will still my moms hugs that she perfected throughout the years.
I need them like i need air to breathe
because they made me who i am today
the impact they made on my life will never leave
I am strong, confident, respectful, with a stubbornness that won’t sway.
Today i will hug them longer
and be grateful that i have them
My need for them will only grow stronger
the day they pass my life will be mayhem
Until then my hugs will be harder,
time will be spent more thoughtfully
longer talks with my mother
more fishing with my father, laughing joyfully.
