Without You

You were a stupid dreamer and

I was naiive

I saw a spark in you

but it was not what it seemed,

and I should have left it be but what could I do,

and as we became closer I soon cared about you,

but soon I breathed your toxic fumes and it was like a flood,

and you sucked the peace of mind straight out of my blood,

but then the air grew cold like when a pond freezes,

and you ran and I was left to pick up all the pieces.

The sun set anyway,

and I closed my eyes,

my life was an empty room but I was surprised

that people could still love me after I missed them for you.

But that just shows what decency can do.

The trees were green

the sky was pink

life is never what I think,

my life was grey, then it was blue,

and now it's rainbows, without you.

It felt like years, but really it was months- who knew?

And after that, I still just missed what once was you,

My hands were taped with what you call a mental block of fear

and I wanted to be free so I could once again hear,

My only one escape was another friend who never bailed on friends,

and that was where I started and it was another of your ends.

And for just one second in my life I didn't just see grey

and we turned our back on you and them and learned to love the day.

The trees were green

the sky was pink

life is never what I think,

my life was grey, then it was blue,

and now it's rainbows, without you
