Womem- Not just another object

What am I but a woman?

Put me on the mantel with all your other trophies.

Dust me off and parade me around,

Like I am something you just found.

You tell your friends how good I am in bed,

A warm sex toy for your sole pleasure.

Then when you’re done put me in my spot,

My spot on the mantel.

But don’t think I will be silent because I’m not just another object.

“Hey sexy lady, why don’t you shake it my way.”

Trying to keep my temper at bay,

I say “No way!”

“It’s a compliment” they say,

Laughing at the scorn on face, I continue to walk away.

That is way I am now called the “Ice Bitch”

Because I’m not just another object.

Why does the media have women undress for the camera?

I was always told men and women were equal.

So why is half our population nothing more than shapes and shadows,

Portrayed as only sexual beings for the enjoyment of men?

In music, women are there to be treated as whores and animals to be kept on chains.

Don’t women see that their bodies are just the props for men to wield about?

Why do the young people of today not see this as robbing females of their humanity?

Why is rape sold as romance in movies?

This needs to change because I am not just another object.
