Women

From the pioneers like Abby Kelley

Who began the Women’s Rights journey

To activist Deborah Parker

Who pushes the campaign farther

I’ve always looked up to the women before me

The ones who taught us to see

That we have so much more to offer

And that if a woman believes in herself enough,

nothing can stop her

These pioneers showed me the power I possess

That we are not damsels in distress

That I can do what a man can

And I can accomplish whatever I plan

They inspire me to be brave

And I admire the encouraging words that they gave

To keep this movement going

And to keep our power growing

So thank you to the Women before me

Who helped me see

That I’m much more than a man’s spouse

But that I am a walking powerhouse
